On Saturday, 3/11/2017, the Preferred Materials Concrete Central Region held their Quarterly Safety Meeting. This meeting was unique from other meetings in the past. Instead of covering specific topics, the group split up into eight different tables to collaborate on a group scenario. Their goal in the exercise was to come up with specific actions to improve the safety culture for their companies in 2017. Excellent ideas came from the groups, and the management group met the following Monday for the purpose of incorporating these ideas into their business!

Asphalt Contractor’s Amy Schwandt presented the ten Larry H. Lemon Award winners for their top pavements under 50,000 tons.
On February 10, 2016, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) awarded Preferred Materials, Inc. with the 2015 Larry H. Lemon Quality in Construction Award in the General Paving (less than 50,000 tons) category. Preferred was honored with this prestigious award for its repair work on 16.38 centerline miles on a total of 64 Sarasota county streets; earning top 10 ranking and superior benchmarks by pavement engineers at the National Center for Asphalt Technology. …Read more

On June 13, 2015, during the 58th Annual ACAF Convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida (ACAF) awarded Gulf High School senior, Michael Jarvis, with the Carroll Lance Memorial Scholarship (CLMS). The 2015 CLMS was available to any Florida resident that is a graduating high school senior in 2015 whose parent(s) or legal guardian is a member or is employed by a firm who is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida. Rick Jarvis, father of the scholarship recipient, has been a South Region Accountant with Preferred Materials, Inc. and a member of ACAF through Preferred since 2004.
