On June 13, 2015, during the 58th Annual ACAF Convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida (ACAF) awarded Gulf High School senior, Michael Jarvis, with the Carroll Lance Memorial Scholarship (CLMS). The 2015 CLMS was available to any Florida resident that is a graduating high school senior in 2015 whose parent(s) or legal guardian is a member or is employed by a firm who is a member of the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida. Rick Jarvis, father of the scholarship recipient, has been a South Region Accountant with Preferred Materials, Inc. and a member of ACAF through Preferred since 2004. Honored to help, Preferred Materials used this opportunity to present Michael with a matching donation towards his education.

Michael Jarvis will be entering his first semester as a freshman to the University of Florida in the spring of 2016. Michael participated in the four-year International Baccalaureate Program at his high school, received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, is graduating in the top 10 percentile as it relates to all 2015 Pasco graduating seniors and has volunteered more than 100 community service hours during his tenure as a high school student. Nat Fisher, President of Preferred Materials Asphalt commented, “Michael Jarvis’s accomplishments demonstrate that he is professional, proactive, smart, ethical and community-minded; the same values as Preferred Materials.” Nat added, “When you hear about an individual like Michael, you do whatever it takes to keep him moving forward.”
