Preferred Materials, Inc. was honored to receive two district and one statewide 2015 Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida (ACAF) Excellence in Pavement Awards! Preferred accepted the district and statewide award for Resurfacing in the Urban Category; acknowledging Preferred’s work on the State Road 13 (San Jose Blvd.) project in Duval County, Florida. This was a pavement resurfacing of 23.2 lane miles; requiring 35,125 tons of asphalt.
Preferred was then presented with a district award in the Special Projects Category for the Terminal Access Roadway Rehabilitation at the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX). The scope included new curbing, full-depth pavement replacement areas, drainage improvements, as well as milling and resurfacing of the only public access to JAX. Additionally, this project required phasing and work hours to be closely coordinated with airport officials to accommodate all arrivals and departures.
