Project: Channelside Rehabilitation Project
Location: Tampa, FL
Company: Preferred Materials Inc. - Concrete Division
Completion Date: August 2011
The Channelside Rehabilitation Project was performed by Curb Systems of South West FL and Sarasota, for the city of Tampa. The Channelside area is a tourism center for the city. The cruise ship port, aquarium, and St Pete Times Forum arena are all located in Channelside. Many people are beginning to live in the high rise’s that have recently been built in Channelside. The city of Tampa specified very special concrete colors and finishes to be installed through out the neighborhood. B.J. Romer, owner of Curb Systems of SW FL and Sarasota, explained he was under a very tight deadline for the project. It was imperative to B.J. that all the colored concrete be a perfect match. PMI introduced B.J. to our new product ColorReady™. ColorReady™ has the unique ability to maintain slump-life for over 90 minutes in the hottest FL weather. The extended slump-life allowed B.J. and his crew the necessary working time to impart the beautiful finishes required by the city. The project was finished ahead of schedule and will be enjoyed by the residents and visitors to the Channelside area for years to come.
The Arlington is a new luxury resort-style continuing care retirement community which required Preferred Materials to provide 25,000 cubic yards of concrete and a wide array of structural concrete mix designs.
