Project: Seminole County Sports Complex
Location: Sanford, FL
Completion Date: May 2016
The Seminole County Sports Complex kicked off its grand opening in May 2016, offering 102-acres of premier tournament-quality fields and facilities. This state-of-the-art sports mecca will host events for baseball, softball, football, soccer and lacrosse athletes of all ages and skill levels. The sports complex is booked solid, every weekend, for the remainder of the year with 38 tournaments. County officials estimate more than $50 million dollars being generated for the local economy with all those tournaments and events.
The Preferred Materials family of products and services was extremely vital to the complex’s construction. Conrad Yelvington Distributors (CYD) Sanford provided more than 30,000 tons of granite for nine synthetic turf fields built by Florida Carter Corporation, along with Medallion Athletic Products. CYD also provided close to 600 tons of high-quality triple screened warning track material for six natural fields. This same warning track material has been used in professional and college stadiums throughout the southeast.
Preferred Materials Concrete – Central Florida Division provided the Ready Mix for this project, as well. The project consisted of over 4,000 cubic yards of concrete; with a combination of conventional mixes, as well as an exposed river rock mix. The concrete sub, VMG Concrete, worked integrally with Preferred to ensure a sound and successful project.
Preferred Materials Asphalt’s newly-formed Private Commercial Division was also given the opportunity to provide 2,800 tons of asphalt and manage the installation. The material was shipped from Preferred’s Winter Springs Plant, also in Seminole County. Overall, this project was a huge success for all lines of business of the Preferred Materials family and truly signifies what our company offers to the building industry.
The Arlington is a new luxury resort-style continuing care retirement community which required Preferred Materials to provide 25,000 cubic yards of concrete and a wide array of structural concrete mix designs.
In mid-October 2014, Preferred Materials, Inc. began a 4-mile resurfacing project of Pelican Bay Blvd. in Naples, FL.
Preferred Materials, Inc recently supplied over 6000 cubic yards of our specialty product DrainReady for use in the beach parking lots on Siesta Key.
