On March 16th, Lorenzo Irving was delivering Ready Mix to a job adjacent to Page Field Municipal Airport in Ft. Myers, Florida. Preferred’s customer had a dilemma with another subcontractor’s boom pump on the jobsite. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would not allow the other sub to raise the boom on the pump without a warning light. The boom pump operator did not have a light with him. Lorenzo came up with the idea to use one of the strobe lights from Preferred’s mixers to strap to the boom. Thanks to Lorenzo’s problem-solving, the crew was able to add the strobe light and begin the job; saving 40 yards of concrete from being rejected.
